- Once again, a school's banning the game of Tag because...well, I don't quite know.
- A scathing invective from Rolling Stone on how bad the 109th Congress has been. Apparently, really, really bad.

Playing at recess when I was eleven, I smashed my head against a metal soccer pole. The blow was hard enough to briefly knock me unconsiouss, and the resulting cut was so deep that the doctor used two joints of his little finger to pick dirt out of my head before sewing me up with 13 stitches. It hurt - a lot.
Did my parents sue the school? No.
Things like that happen - and they build character - and this time I'm using that phrase seriously.
If we coddle our children any more, when it comes time to fight for something, not only are they not going to want to, they aren't even going to know how.
I whole-heartedly agree, which is why I am befuddled by the decision.
I visited my friend Trish and her almost 1-yr old Ava and as not being a parent nor being around babies long enough, I was cautious in making sure she didn't hit her head.
But Trish warned me off, saying, she has to learn. 30 seconds later, she hit her head against the wall. Twice. Of course she began to cry, but again Trish, the good parent that she is, told me that Ava was only looking for attention.
And she was right.
I'm curious about what is causing this trend of increased fear and concern amongst parents about the need for absolute safety for their children, wherever they are.
Is it media perception? Is it just a different generation of parents with different values? Is it actual increased dangers in general society? Is it something else entirely?
